Heather's OOTD: Burgundy Pleated Skirt (and some static)

Turtleneck, Skirt, Tights (Kohl's), Shoes (Missoni for Target, thrifted new), Necklace (New York & Co), Belt (Thrifted)

Coat (Mossimo, Yard Sale $2)

A visit from William!
I am finally working my way through all my scores from the after Christmas sales.  This skirt is an Apt. 9 from Kohl's clearance for $9.60.  Oxblood (or what I like to call burgundy) was a hot trend for fall, but I like the color no matter what the trends say.  I wanted to let the skirt be the focus, so black was my choice for the remaining of the outfit.  Wearing sweater tights and a pleated almost silky type skirt are not a good match.  The static electricity was out of control!  My tights have had a heavy dose of hairspray and static guard to combat the problem.  My biggest fear was that I would have the skirt ride up for everyone to see my butt, ha ha!

Another thing that has never made it to the blog is a lot of my outerwear.  I just don't think to show my coats much.  This was a yard sale find a couple of summers ago for $2.00.  It has turned into one of my favorite winter coats.  The length is perfect for wearing dresses and skirts and I love the military inspired buttons.  When it's 100 degrees outside and you see a winter coat, it's the last thing you want to buy, but I am glad I was able to forsee it's potential when it's freezing outside!

Do you have a favorite winter jacket that you wear all the time?

  1. That coat is beautiful and so ladylike, it really complements the outfit. Love the color and pleats on that skirt. Too bad about the static though! One of the crappy things about winter.

P.S. Glad to see William again. :)

  2. I love that skirt, what a great deal. I love Pleats & the color Burgundy. This outfit reminds me that I have to get out my black turtlenecks. They are a very versatile, chic wardrobe piece. And that necklace is one of my Favorites you own.

Also what a Gorgeous Coat and what a Great Price you paid for it. I love the color & shape. I actually own quite a few coats and all pretty. I don't normally photograph my outterwear either. The last 3 months though I have relied on my Puffy Coat cause it is the only one who fits perfect with my belly.

    Have a Great Weekend!!

  3. I had to laugh at the static and sweater tights, as I can relate to that! You really did score at the Kohl's winter sales... Love your coat and the price is amazing! I posted myself in a coat today too!

  6. That skirt is fabulous. It's one of my favorite colours and the pleats are so classic.

What a great deal on the coat also. I love the military style. I have a few coats that I wear, but I currently don't have one that I really love and that goes with everything. I keep looking though.

  7. I still love burgundy too! It's a great color even beyond Fall. I really love the pleats in your skirt. And hello William!

I adore your coat! It's such a great silhouette on you! I have a plaid coat that I pretty much wear most of the time in the winter, it's kind of a peacoat. I have a couple of others I like to wear every now and then too, when it gets so cold here in MN I figure I can justify having multiple coats!

  12. I don't own a winter coat! Horrible, I know, but I'd never use it here in San Francisco. I used to have one when I lived in Chicago and it was always freezing.

  14. I wore my skirt this week, too! Meant to get a picture, but I didn't have the energy after a 12 hr work day. Love it with all black!

  15. I hate static in the winter time, and I know the feeling when you are wondering of the skirt is riding up. I do love the coat and what a great deal.

  16. Thank goodness for humidifiers, eh? I am a walking ball of electricity right now. I think you nailed this with the all black then letting the burgundy/merlot/maroon/anything-but-oxblood skirt be the focus. Love the pleating!!!
