Pinned It and Did It: A Hodge Podge of Projects

I may have figured out a way around the uploading photos into blog posts.  If something doesn't work, I am quite persistent in finding the solution so I have been playing around for the last hour.  I am probably late to this boat for experienced computer folks, but apparently if you are on Google Blogger all of your blog photos get downloaded into a Picasa web album.  After reading a bunch of help stuff, I finally figured out how to create an album and download the photos that way.  If anyone is having trouble, this is my suggestion to work around the problem.

Ok, so now onto the fun stuff!  As many of you know we re-painted and decorated our kitchen over Christmas.  One of the final touches were curtains.  Our lighting is horrible in the kitchen, so I knew a window valance was the way to go.  This window valance was not a pinned project, but my mother-in-law (hi S!) tought me how to make curtains many years ago.  This window valance was made with a half yard of fabric and no sew tape (the kind you iron) to make hems.  I had it done in 15 minutes and was quite proud that I managed to make it straight!

It's black and white chevron.  Isn't chevron print all the rage right now?  I love it!
With the leftover fabric, I am making this picture frame wood letter project.  Honestly, I am so frustrated with computers right now, I am not even going to link to Pinterest (I apologize to the original pinner).  You can find the link to any of my projects on my Pinterest DIY boards (just follow us on Pinterest over there on the right side).  Anyways, this is a Target picture frame, a wood letter from JoAnn Fabric (I realize the S is upside down), the leftover fabric from the curtains, and a glue gun project.  It's not finished, but it will be the finishing touch to my family command center area.  The S is for our last name in case you were wondering, ha ha!

This next project was a much needed one.  This is a DIY scarf hanger using shower curtain rings and a hanger.  After I took this photo, I ended up switching to a more sturdy hanger.  Preferable one that is wood.  The scarves were extremely heavy on a cheapo plastic hanger and it was sagging.  This was the easiest project to date.  Apparently I have more scarves than I thought, so I need to buy another pack of shower curtain rings to do another one.

Last but not least is a photo of my newly organized craft drawer.  It's nothing fancy, but it serves it's purpose and now I can find everything!  The closet that was storing my crafts looked like it exploded with ribbons, glitter and scrapbook paper.  My husband must of got tired of looking at all of it too because he bought me this drawer cart for Christmas (with a JoAnn gift card attached).  He not only buys awesome boots for me, but he thought of this idea.  I must say he is a keeper, lol.

If you made it this far, thank you!  I know this was a wordy post, but I really wanted to get the whole photo downloading issue resolved so I when it finally worked, I just had to post this.  Hopefully you are all having a great weekend!

  7. I own a ton of scarves too. I don't even have all of them out right now for this season. I love all of these. I must do that plastic shower hanger project, too.

The curtains came out so beautiful & I love that Framed Letter. I want to do one too. But I have to find/buy a letter first. =)

  8. Heather, are we the same person? I did the scarf on shower hook thing too! I started it before Christmas, and I used metal hooks on a wood hanger. I found they slid around and caused the hanger to go off balance (which was the bane of my husband's existence). Yesterday, I finally got off my butt and grabbed my glue gun, putting globs of glue every so often to prevent them all from sliding to one side. I've got 2 hangers for scarves and one for belts, and I still swear it's the smartest thing I've ever done!
