Ok, so I lied in yesterday's post and said that due to the freezing temps this week my Pinspiration looks wouldn't involve a skirt or a dress. Well...this outfit works with the long maxi skirt and extra layers on top. Plus, you will never know what's under this maxi skirt....just kidding! There are leggings under there.
When I saw that one of my favorite blogging buddies Sarah created this look for another one of my favorite blogging buddies Alison, I totally wanted to steal this outfit. When I bought this black maxi skirt, I thought it would be such a versatile piece to wear. It's so hard for me! I think it's because a long maxi skirt is a far cry from my normal pencil skirt or more classic style that I am used to. Any source of inspiration or a new way to wear this skirt is a welcome sight.
Do you find it hard to style maxi skirts? Please tell me I am not the only one!

I've avoided maxi-skirts for just this reason: how do you style them? I have no clue. You do look cute, though, with this blazer. You better put a lock on your closet when I come to town. :)
ReplyDeleteP.S., Leggings are great for staying warm. I wear a pair every day under my dress-suit trousers.
Oh yay! How cool, I'm so glad you recreated this outfit. Cute take on it! I have yet to try it because I don't have the pink blazer or cardi. But I did half style it to wear to church a few weeks ago. Thanks for linking up today! Love how you tied your scarf.
ReplyDeleteYup...that is our skirt that has been worn once on my blog and once in real life. And yup I still find it tricky to style...love what u did here and also you braved the cold and still wore a skirt. I am I jeans mode.....too cold out...
ReplyDeleteI DO find maxi's hard to wear...it seems like the only way to dress it down is with a tee, which is fine, but they seem like they should be more versatile...
ReplyDeleteThe leopard scarf and hot pink blazer are very cool together, i like it :-)

I love the maxi skirts and find the much easier to style in warmer weather. For some reason open toed shoes just seem to work better for me with this look... Not ready to give up on them for cooler weather...Will be styling mine on Friday, so stay tuned...
ReplyDeleteI love maxi skirts! Though I find they are easier to work with in the summer than right now. I really love this look on you and I'm pretty sure I pinned that same pin from your Pinterest! Though I don't have an awesome pink blazer like yours!
ReplyDeletethat hot pink blazer looks awesome on you Heather. love the color. i live in maxi skirts and dresses. they're so easy to just throw on. i haven't tried mine with a blazer yet, because the one's i have are so summery. but i do wear cardigans with them.

Ok, I do need to know: how do you wear maxi skirts with layers underneath without having the terrifying static cling be an issue? It must be magic! (or a really long slip...)
ReplyDeleteI love styling my maxi skirt. Have you try wearing a tunic sweater with you maxi skirt.
ReplyDeleteit is hard because you have to get the proportions just right...but it totally works here with the cropped blazer! love the leopard scarf, too!!
