Boy, it's been awhile since I have posted a new Stay or Go Feature. You can read about this feature HERE. Long story short, I take an item in my closet that I am thinking about letting go, and leave it to all of you to tell me if it should Stay or Go.
This purple DKNY flyaway cardigan has been sitting in my closet since the beginning of November. This was something I picked up at the clothing swap party that I planned. Purple is my favorite color and that's pretty much the only reason I grabbed it. Kind of a dumb theory, when I had no clue how to wear this thing!
Below are some ideas I came up with to style it, but I am still on the fence. It feels so big and almost like it swallows me whole.
Look #1: Belted
Look #2: In it's natural state
Look #3: Belted and Pinned with a Broach
Look #4: Pinned with a broach at the shoulder
I tried to keep the bottom half thin and sleek since the cardigan is definitely more flowy on the top to keep the look streamlined.
So what do you think? Stay or Go?
The front pieces are too long. Unless you can figure out a way to shorten them, I'd say it should probably go.
ReplyDeleteTOTAL STAY! This is a great piece...it looks TOTALLY different when you use the brooch, which means re wearability...I also love the color for you...
ReplyDeleteall that said, I haven't seen it close up...if it is stained, pilling or worse for the wear, then let it go..but if it is in good shape ....KEEP!
It would look amazing with white jeans, white tank for Spring!!!!

I would say go. It's a beautiful colour and your styling of it is fantastic, but it's just too long.
ReplyDeleteI agree that it should go, it really swallows you up. I do have to say that I am impressed with the different ways you styled it and think you definitely gave it every opportunity to work...
ReplyDeleteMy favorite of the looks is #3, but that's because you pinned it up so it doesn't look too long. I'm gonna have to say "go" unless you can shorten it just a couple inches.

OK the style, shape and color are definitely unique that is why I like this. I love how you pinned it and belted it. I say STAY. I will suggest you try wearing it like a wrap-style top. Cross over both sides to the back (creating a wrap) and tie it on the back, in the middle. It will take away some of the length and it will feel like a pretty wrap sweater. It is quite bit but it is pretty and quite unique. I would love for you to style it the way I told you and try it with dark jeans, a pair of skinnies or even a black pencil skirt on the bottom.
ReplyDeleteStay and keep it as a robe. LOL! Okay, seriously though, I was totally thinking GO while I was seeing the first two looks, but then I saw look #3 and I love that look! Very cute! I have a hard time letting go of some pieces and others I have no hesitation letting them go. This one is the former... not sure :/ I'm a big help-right?!
ReplyDeleteIt's such a pretty color on you and I do love it in both belted looks. It's a toss up! I'm sure you can find something equally pretty in a more fitting shape for your body.
ReplyDeleteI like look number 3 - I was thinking go and then I saw that, wow! I have a similar cardi that I have worn kind of wrapped around my body and tied, but I seriously want to try this now! So, I say stay! And thanks for the idea!
ReplyDeleteamazing blog!

I like it when you have it pinned up like a dress. Looks very artsy but just as a cardi it's rather long.
ReplyDeleteThis type of cardigan is so hard to style, and yours is particularly long. Look #3 is nice, I don't think the others are really working. If you have the closet space, keep it.
ReplyDeleteHave you tried knotting the ends in the front? Or wrapping the ends around your waist and tying them in the back?
ReplyDeleteI like look #3. I'd say STAY if you can figure out a couple more combinations.
I say it goes. It is way to long for you.
ReplyDeleteI like the pinned style best, but you have so many flattering pieces in your wardrobe that I think this could be a go and you wouldn't miss it.
ReplyDeletei have a hard time with these flowy, longish sweaters, too, because they are so overwhelming. i like it pinned and belted, but overall, it's a lot of fabric head to toe. it might look nice in warmer months over a short dress, or it looks like you cold just take the ends and loosely tie it over shorts....but other than that, i'd say GO.
ReplyDeleteLook number three is just fabulous. But other than that the front is just too long. :) If you can really only wear it the one way is it worth the space it takes up in your closet? It also seems a little bohemian for your more classic style. :)
ReplyDeleteInitially I thought it was too long for you, but look # 3 is brilliant and now I think you should keep it just to wear like that. Also, I will be copying look # 3. I wanted you to know. ;-)
ReplyDeleteLOVE IT pinned with the brooch. Look so pretty for a fun date!
ReplyDeleteI was going to say "go" until I saw the second to last photo-- I really like it pinned up! Have you tried pinning both ends up? Just by looking at it, I wonder whether you could try to double it as a scarf?

I really like it
ReplyDeleteI think you styled it well in all of the photos

I was going to say go until I saw it belted and pinned. Keep!
