Lisa at the wonderful blog Dangerous Curves commented in this post that she was interested in a review of some of the products I have been using in my hair recently. I thought this would be a fun and maybe helpful post to some of you who are short on time when styling your hair.
Being a very busy full-time working mom, every little second counts in a day when trying to manage my time. Doing my hair is important to looking half way decent when walking out the door, but it's not at the top of my priority list. So when I cheated on my hairstylist, the new stylist taught me a few tips on blow drying and styling my hair. Normally I don't buy products from the salon since they are usually expensive, but my hair was awesome after she was finished!
I have been going to Kenneth's Hair and Day Spas for about 10 years and have tried some of their products from time to time, but these are amazing!
From Left to Right: Kenneth's Creative Volumizing Foam, Kenneth's Give Me Lift, Dove Replenshing Spray
#1: I use about two pumps of the creative volumizing foam on wet hair after the shower. I spread it throughout my hair from roots to tips
#3 Dove Thermal Replenishment Spray. This is a heat protector and also helps fight the frizzies from blow drying.
I am not a morning person and I like my sleep, so I shower in the evening. After my shower I use all products above in order. Next I blow dry hair until almost completely dry. All of these products are heat activated so that's the only reason I even started to blow dry my hair. Before my hair cut, I rarely blow dried my hair, but I am seeing a huge difference in the volume since doing it. Then I go catch some Zzzz's and wait until the morning.
When morning comes around, I use one of two heat styling methods; my flat iron or a 2" barrel curling iron. These get plugged in as soon as I wake up on my way down to the coffee pot (I am a zombie without coffee). I use the flat iron to curl my hair, as well as the curling iron. The flat iron creates tighter or smaller curls and the curling iron creates more like waves.
Next I take a hair clip and clip all hair up except the bottom layer to be curled. I quickly run through medium sized pieces with the styling tool I am using that morning. Then I pull the clip out and go to the next layer. My hair is extremely thin, so I have three layers to work with. After all pieces are curled, I run through real quick and do any touch ups. After lots of practice over the last few weeks, I have been able to streamline the curling to about 15 minutes.
The final touch is a dash of hairspray. I have been using Aussie (the smell reminds me of junior high) and I am off to the next thing on my list.
This was not a sponsored post for Kenneth's or Dove products. I just like the products.
In addition, several of you have asked me how I manage to work, be a mom, blog, and do DIY projects. Would you be interested in continuing this Busy Girl's Guide and having me write some posts about some of my tips on managing time, organization, and any other topics? Let me know in the comments!

I think learning how to handle your hair is an ongoing, never ending process.
