If you asked me a couple of years ago if I would do pattern mixing, it would have been a big heck no. Fast forward to now, and I can eat those words. Pattern mixing is still a little intimidating to me, but I do like it in small doses. The leopard blouse is just enough under the striped top without looking like a crazy lady or a two year old who dressed herself.
Unfortunately, this outfit never made it out the door. Miss M got sick before heading out the door for school, so back to the sweatpants for the day. Since I was already dressed, I had to take photos. As a blogger, if you don't take a photo of an outfit it never existed, right? This will definitely be a repeat in the near future.
How do you feel about pattern mixing? What are your favorite prints to combine?

I think up until about 3 years ago I had very little pattern in my closet, but now I have much more. That being said, mixing them is still a bit of a struggle for me! You however do it quite nicely and it always comes across very chic!
ReplyDeleteLove love love those boots!

I love this outfit! The leopard and stripes are great patterns to mix! I'm like you, I have taken baby steps into pattern mixing. I would like to do some more. I like your suggestion on my outfit today of mixing the gingham with some floral, so I might try it!
ReplyDeleteThis is perfect pattern mixing. You were one of the first people that inspired me to do it a few months back. Now I do it all the time! Funny how that happens. Thanks for linking up today!
ReplyDeleteYes pattern mixing seemed intimidating at first, but so proud of myself to have gotten over that! This combo is perfect and looks wonderful on you!
ReplyDeleteI am the same way! I wouldn't have ever pattern mixed until I started blogging and becoming more comfortable with my own sense of style! I LOVE this mixture of prints, Heather! :) Hope Miss M is OK !

ReplyDeleteI love your layering and pattern mixing. I kind of feel like stripes and animal print are neutrals and can be mixed pretty easily. That is pretty much my limit though. :)
first, i love stripes and leopard. one of my favorite combos. second, i love the look of browns and black. pretty necklace, too!

ReplyDeleteI think you look AMAZING I love this outfit and you have inspired me to copy this outfit because you rocked it!!
ReplyDeleteI am a cautious pattern mixer myself & envy those who can pull off the most dissimilar prints! I love the leopard with the stripes. One of my go-to combos!
ReplyDeleteYour leopard and stripes are a perfect combo. Love it when you get all dressed and ready to go and then it is something with the kids...back to comfy clothes!
ReplyDeletehuge fan of pattern mixing
ReplyDeletefunny that if you don't photograph it, it never existed
on tuesday it was pouring rain and just thought to myself...another wear out of this outfit very soon, since it wasn't photographed lol

I feel exactly the same way as you did about pattern mixing a few years ago. Now it's not too bad! Sorry to hear miss m is sick, hope she feels better soon :)
ReplyDeleteI almost thought this post was going to be about Justin Beiber! (Doesn't he have a song or album titled Never Say Never?) I, too, would never have imagined pattern mixing. I think you do it so well!
ReplyDeleteI love the stripes over the leopard. I am a huge fan of mixing patterns but it is still something I am working on embracing fully myself.

If I don't manage to get photos of an outfit, that just means I get to wear it again.

Chic on the Cheap
Love your outfit...
ReplyDeleteI never knew animal print and stripes would look good together.
Love your boots too.
I think it's a great combo! I am just starting to get into pattern mixing, so it is great to have someone to copy. I had a similar outfit incident today, only I didn't take a picture. I got dressed to take my son to the doctor, and then changed right back into yoga pants when we got home. I guess that outfit never happened....
ReplyDeleteYou sound like me!! A couple of years ago I would have never thought about mixing patterns. I'm still gun-shy but like it more now. Never say never is right!

HaHa! I think many people felt the way you do Heather. Looks great! Hope miss M feels better soon doll.

I've grown to like pattern mixing too. I especially like florals and stripes together. Sorry Miss M got sick. Hope she feels better soon!
ReplyDeleteI'm always look for new ways to wear my leopard button up - frankly it kind of scares me, its so much pattern! wearing it under something more neutral definitely helps!
ReplyDeleteLove the leopard peeking out and the black and brown mix.
ReplyDeleteGreat pattern combination! I host a style link party every Monday and would love for you to join! http://fashionsgreatesthits.blogspot.com/2013/02/the-first-ever-my-style-monday.html
ReplyDeleteThis outfit made a great impact on me. I like that despite the pattern mixing (which usually is the dominant part of an outfit), some of the smaller details still really stand out - your necklace pendant is nicely framed in the V of your sweater and it also picks up on the metallic accents on your boots. You look awesome Heather!
